Strategists have to take big, sometimes extremely complicated problems or ideas and boil it down to 1-2 sentences. This boiled down idea is like pasta; simple to make, inspires thousands of delicious dishes, and it must be easy to digest (puns intended). The key is in knowing when the ‘pasta’ is done. They say a good trick to test if it’s ready is to throw it at a wall – if it sticks, it’s done. If it doesn’t, throw it back in the pot and let it cook a bit more – just like a good idea.
